Surf-Style Skate History

The origins of skateboarding, “Sidewalk-Surfing” as it was called in those days, began when surfers tried to simulate surfing on pavement. Dismantling their sister’s old roller-skates and crudely attaching the metal wheels to some dusty wood plank in the back yard; on these primitive jalopies, surfers would cruise around town and bomb the streets in their neighborhoods, having fun when the waves were flat.
